Spring Flooding

Spring Flooding

Each year, starting on March 15, the Village of Senneville’s Public Works team remains on standby to monitor water levels and take appropriate action. As of last week, the water level is considered normal

Senneville has an intervention protocol based on activation levels related to spring flooding. The municipal administration and Public Works team closely follow the specific intervention plan according to the evolving situation.

The Village also wishes to remind residents of their role during this period: it is everyone’s responsibility to monitor their property and ensure they are adequately equipped in case of potential flooding. This includes having the necessary equipment on hand if needed. Additionally, please note that the installation of generators requires a certificate of authorization. Please contact the Urban Planning and Environment Department for assistance with your application and to learn about the applicable regulations.

Finally, Public Works employees may be called upon to deploy preventive measures in the field to protect municipal infrastructures.

As a result, preventive installations such as dikes, barricades and sandbags may be installed on certain properties, and these installations will then be inspected regularly by Public Works employees.

These preventive installations are part of the municipal flood emergency intervention plan, conforming to Article 95 of the Municipal Powers Act, approved by the Montreal Civil Security as well validated by the Town’s legal advisors.
