Tree felling

Citizens wishing to have one or more trees felled on their property must obtain a certificate of authorization before carrying out the work. To obtain a certificate of authorization, a completed application form must be submitted, including a report by a professional (ISA-certified arborist or a forestry engineer) explaining the reasons for cutting the tree and demonstrating that the tree cannot be kept for one of the reasons mentioned in article 7.1.2 of the zoning by-law. The submitted application must also include the location of the trees on a copy of the certificate of location.

Please also note that the zoning by-law provides for a mandatory percentage of tree retention, so planting may be required to comply with the prescribed tree cover.
